Yesterday for the first time I was too tired to ride.

I was afraid I would be hurt if I was thrown.

I heard someone say my barn was too shabby.

I let someone tell me I was too pudgy to ride.

I realized I was old.

I had to face that I could no longer keep up.

I had to let go of my dreams.

I felt my heart break.

I turned my back on my friend.

I knew I was done.

Today, for the last time,

I felt warm, braided leather in my hands.

I ran my stirrups up so they wouldn't bang ...

Ok, so I find out tonight if we get a new house with a bunch of land (50+ acres). The catch is for this land it needs to have it cleared away to make room for a barn, so eventually I can bring the horses home. I was told this land use to be a farm a couple generations ago and it looks like the land was cleared away a number of years (10 I'm guessing) ago and started to grow up again. But I'm wondering what you guys think for going and cleaning this land out so I can start making it into something ...

As I sit here killing time before work I pose a question to you folks. What would YOU want to see in the Maritimes as far as a Paint Horse stud goes?

Which discipline would your prefer his bloodlines to include? Would you be looking for a horse that is more English or Western? An athletic jumper, or a speedy barrel racer, or a quite trail horse, maybe a horse with some cow-sense, or a spinning reiner?

Are there particular bloodlines you’d love to see in the area?

I found this, I have no idea where it came from as I did not write this but I thought I would share!!!!

From time to time, people tell me, lighten up, it's just a horse or that's a lot of money for just a horse. They don't understand the distance travelled, or time spent, or the cost involved in "just a horse".....Some of my proudest moments came from "Just a Horse"...Many hours passed and my only companion was "just a horse", but I did not feel slighted.

To be honest, this makes me feel ill, but besides that, does anyone have any idea of how long these horses have for a usuable time frame?

I watched a couple of the videos, and would have to guess their backs and/or hocks would go bad at a young age?

And what kind of industry calls the animals that make them the big money, "Freaks"? Ugh. Disrespectful IMO.

This mare won the Breeders Cup Classic, which is a really big race, several million in prize money.

She was at the back of the pack for most of the race and came from nowheres to win. I had to play the last turn several times to see where she came from. AMAZING!!!! I even kept my finger on her to make sure I did not lose track of her. Her jockey has the green silks on and the yellow saddle pad.

We are currently building a run-in for the boys. On one end of the barn will be a door, 7ftx8ft (I think) that will mostly be used to clean out the building. There will be a smaller door on the left of the building that will be open all the time. My husband wants to put a garage door on the end of the barn, but I don't want one. I think someone will get hurt. You know how there are the metal tracks, the metal hinges and other random metal parts.

The house is a very nice, well kept.

Eastern Equine Encephalitis

Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) has recently been diagnosed in a horse from the south shore area of Nova Scotia. While this represents the first diagnosis of this disease in Nova Scotia that we are aware of, it has been recently reported in horses in Maine and Quebec.
Well ladies..... need to pick your brains.

We are thinking hard about breeding my mare, she is 12 and I have noticed a small lump under her tail, she is grey so been there done that, know what is coming.

I am looking for a qh stud and well I am struggling with the options.

So can you share some of your fave stud choices.

I am looking for something a bit taller, Imagine is 14.2 so I would like a stud no shorter then 15hh.

Also wanting some info on AI, how to go about it etc.

Earl Smith told CBC News on Monday that the computer selecting horses for each race recently put all four of the horses he's trained in the same event.

"All these colts were all capable of winning, and winning good times," said Smith.

We had a great time at the fair. Our best class was the costume class, we won! He was a bee and I was the beekeeper (I will post pictures soon..)

Neither Glenn nor I have saw anything like this before... my first instinct said HERDA but I don't know if either parents are carriers so that is likely a very inaccurate guess...

It sure perplexes me.... ever see anything like this? any thoughts?
When I am taking just one horse, what side should I put the horse on? Left or Right?

What do you use to tie your horse up with in the trailer? I bought a bungy cord like thing with two clips.
Do you tie both sides of the halter or only one side?

I was just checking out the websites of boarding facilities on PEI, and someone's mare just had twins! They say that they are doing fine.

I wish them all the best!

I don't know if I can post the link?? There is a picture of the mommy and the two little babies!
