Before I even start I want to let you know that right now I am listening to some snoring from downstairs and trying to figure out if it's Lord Gord or the dog! Ooops ... I just heard some movement and a scratch, so it MUST be the Lord.

Today was a wonderful day here at Peetree Stables. The sun was out and the wind didn't pick up until late this afternoon. Fronie came over in the morning and we did the barn together. I must say that she's got the hang of things ... even if she does add ...

I had a wonderful day today. I gave Fronie a lesson on Stretch and then hopped on myself for a wee bit of a ride. The sun even came out to see our performance.

But now, TOMORROW is going to be even better. We have something being dropped off her tomorrow evening. I'm not going to tell you what it is. I figure we all need some excitement in our lives so I'm going to torture you until tomorrow night. Or even Friday morning, depending on what time our little arrival celebration is done.

Long story short version........IN the last year it has been a long haul....I try to do the best I can for everything surrounding my family and horses and relocation program....

Won't give any personal info but sometimes life throws curve balls that are so hard to catch we think all we are looking at is losing the game.....No matter how hard you try you can't catch the ball let alone hit it the ball with the bat.....

George had a bad day yesterday and I feel like a really bad horsey mom

I went out to feed them and noticed 2 drops of blood on the ground, figured someone bit Hubba again. Well, I turned around and saw George's buttercup pretty much hanging open. At first I thought he got kicked but then I saw what happened. There used to be a metal gate on the run-in door that I took off since they are free to come and go. I didn't take the hinges off the wooden post thinking that I may need to put ...

I've been getting lazy about bringing the boys in for the night. I go to the gate and clip on to whichever beast comes first. While I'm doing that Thunder usually scoots underneath my arm and goes to have a little munch while the big guys are coming in.
So the routine around here is pretty consistent with bringing the critters in for the night. Usually I lead Stretch into the barn while Thunder escapes for a few mouth fulls of grass before coming in. Then I go and bring Reo in. Once I grain them Thunder comes in because he hears the sound of FOOD. Last night I decided to mix it up a bit. When the boys came to the gate I clipped my lead onto THUNDER - just to see if Stretch would follow him in. Next thing I know Stretch is walking past ...

OK, so having 13 people over for Thanksgiving is NOT a good idea if your nerves are ALREADY fried. If one more person asks me where something is or looks for something to eat or drink, I'm going to scream !!!!!!!!!!!

But on the upside, the dinner was delicous - had some laughs - am now making Lord Gord suffer through my turkey farts. HA HA !!!!

Happy Turkey Day everyone!

Almost a year ago, CJ hooked me up with a horse.

I took him to a local stable with an indoor this weekend, in prep for a clinic. Brought him in; only horse in the barn. My lovely boy took it all in stride, and barely batted an eye, called a couple of times, but worked very well. The barn manager was giving him lots of compliments, on his movement etc.

He hasn't had the every day type work I would have liked him to get, but he drinks in everything I try to teach him

After 20 months of waiting, the casual employees (myself included) of the Province of NS were converted to civil servants. Back at the beginning of this summer after all other casuals had already been converted (just research staff remained) we began to wonder why we were still waiting. We went to the union and found out that our "employer" ...

So I then go to the back of the trailer..the worst smell ever is coming from the back. I go in and look around, and its obvious someone was using it. The walls were scuffed up in one side and there was little bits of poop in there.

I got a call from the Day Surgery on Monday afternoon saying that they could take me on Wednesday morning for my procedure. Not much notice but I'm happy about getting in fairly quickly.

So I starve myself for 36 hours at which point I was offically 10 lbs lighter. Bonus! I was ready to knaw off an arm on my way in Wed morning. Get all suited up in my jammies (there is absolutely no privacy in Truro's Day Surgery unit either ) and shuffle into the OR. I am terrified at this ...

UPDATE:::::: Yesterday we had the farrier once again and it was actually a nice morning. The sun was sunshinning for a change. The past few times he has been here it has pored. Twist is very uncomfortable in the stable and we have been unable to do her feet outside due to the weather but things finally seemed to be in our favor. We brought Twist into the corral and Fred held her while I fed her grain. The farrier was able to trim her front feet without ANY problem but she was iffy about ...

What I learnt from Ron Pyne yesterday . . .

Focus. Focus. Focus. So apparently I am lacking in the focus department (which I knew because seeing as earlier in the day when Anna, Beth and myself were all sitting around looking at various Parelli material I mentioned that my focus needed some work!). When I want my horse to move his feet I need to focus my energy to where I want to go, not where I am or where I’ve been. So bring up the energy, take a deep breath and project that energy. ...

Apparently the horses had a party last night , got rowdy and busted through one of the fences. Luckily it was into our smaller upper field that opens into one of the corrals. When Fred went to feed this morning, he found everybody except 2 ,who were where they were suppose to be, lounging in the corral. He went to check the fence and about 75 feet was cleaned of wire. Everrybody seems fine, no marks and they aren't talkin' about how the fence got broken. So now hubby is driving new posts, ...

I was in the pub yesterday when I suddenly realized I desperately needed to fart. The music was really, really loud, so I timed my farts with the beat.

After a couple of songs, I started to feel better. I finished my pint and noticed that everybody was staring at me.

Then I suddenly remembered that I was listening to my iPod.

I have a yellow lab that LOVE to eat veggies. Yesterday I was out in the garden picking some yellow beans for lunch. There were some, but most were not ready to pick. Today I went out to the garden to do some weeding and to my horror some of the bean plants were ripped out and the ones still standing were missing their beans (some had half beans on them) That dam dog eat my beans!

My hubby came running out to see what I was yelling about and he said that there was no evidence that his client ...

I took him in yesterday morning to just hang out, and he was so mellow and settled right in! Today in our halter class, we placed 3rd out of 6, second out of 5 in open showmanship, second out of 5 again in adult showmanship, and this year the western show was also an introductory AQHA show, and we won our novice amateur showmanship class!
Well this weekend Anna and I decided to try something completely different – Cattle Penning!! We drove up to Northport to Creekview Farm and registered for a day of Penning. We both entered in three teams (which gave us three runs per team). I took Blue in my first two runs and he was a little frightened of the cows, so we tried helping with the herd change and he got a bit better but we didn’t really have the time for me to get him more comfortable with the cows so a real nice cowboy named ...
