My interesting Drive on the Trans Canada Empty
PostSubject: My interesting Drive on the Trans Canada   My interesting Drive on the Trans Canada Icon_minitimeSun Jul 26, 2009 1:06 am

Coming home tonight after visiting my In-laws at their cottage, we were driving on the Trans Canada (TC) I was sitting there daydreaming about my new barn, when out of the blue my husband yells horse. Of course I sit up and about to question the man when I see it...Oh S***. There was a horse running onto the TC. Of course we pull over, I look in the back, what do I have to catch a runaway horse with...A lunge line (I use it to tie my dog up, as he came with us)

Grab the line. Horse is trucking down the highway, she did go down the middle of the road too. I slowly cross the highway, to try and circle around it. Thankfully another car pulled over in front of the mare. The man and women were able to grab the mare, and he held on to her. I got the lunge line on her, made a makeshift halter with it. Let all the cars that stopped pass by, then started to lead her down the highway.

Thank god she was a quiet little mare. Thank god my husband saw her, thank god it wasn't even a half an hour later, thank god for the other people for their help...could of been very bad.

I wasn't sure where to take her, but the owner showed up, so it ended well. Apparently the mare was in her stall when she got out. So a good lesson in all this is make sure, you latch the stall doors shut, or keep any doors that do not have fences around shut.

So I can add saving a horse from the TC to my list of things I've done. and hope to NEVER have to do again.

WOW - that situation could have gotten REALLY ugly, REALLY quickly. It's nice to see other people think and help out in these types of situations too. I've never had to do this with a horse, just the odd beagle who got lost hunting.
