| Anyone know how long you have to transfer a horse?
I thought there was a time limit but I can't find it anywhere on the form. | |

| Just a guess, but i don't think there is. I know people that have had their horses for over a year and haven't transferred their papers yet. | |

| While transfers are SUPPOSE to be done fairly soon after purchase, that is not always the case. I don't think the AQHA has a time limit on transfers. I also know that they will occasionally have offers to do multiple transfers for a single fee. I think as long as the titles and dates of transfer are in place that they will accept them. Years ago , when my parents were raising AQHA we purchsed a mare and had to track down three owners over a 5 year span of ownership but all transfers were obtained and the transfer into my parent's name went through without a hitch. I can't think their policies would have changde too much in that area.

| I don't think there is a time limit but I do think it may get more expensive as time goes by. | |

| Far as I know there's not time limit and there's no increase in the fee the longer you wait. I had maggie for almost a year before I transferred her and it was only $15 or something like that. You have to pay the fee for every time the horse changes hands so if the horse has gone through 6 owners since it was last transferred you could be stuck having the pay six tranfer fees. Now and then the AQHA will have a special (like mentioned) where you only have to pay the one transfer fee regardless of how many times a horse changed hands before you got it. | |

| Okay I thought it might be like it is with Paints because it does increase the later you are registering. Oh I think I'm off the mark here - we're talking transfers here aren't we and not registrations. Please ignore what I've posted. :) | |
