Hubby and I have had the opportunity in the past couple months to work with some horses from Sadie's Place...

For those of you who aren't yet familiar with Sadie's Place it is a Horse Rescue on PEI...

and their blog which always proves to be an interesting read... definitely worth bookmarking!

My first rave -- huge kudos to Sadie's Place and the Foster Families for doing such a phenomenal job rescuing horses in need and ALSO for getting them trained. I believe by putting training on the horses they rescue they are helping to assure these horses have a long and prosperous future.

My second rave -- we've now had three horses come in for training of one sort or another and it has been enlightening to say the least. The big hearted people we've met and the bonds we've formed are just awesome! The horses are being given a second chance and I swear they know it... they just try so darn hard to please.

I agree a huge rave for Sadie place and all the people involved with helping these horses. I hope that in the near future the stb industry on pei also gets involved. Many of the stbs bred on pei don't even make it to the track. Also the people that have horses "rescued" by Sadies place that are the result of neglect and abuse face some sort of fine or something. There was one of the rescues that was below a one for his body score! That is not right and no charges were brought to the original owner.

Alot of work has been done by sadies place and the people involved are amazing. Can't Wait till my barn is done so we can be a foster family(which is really needed!)

keep up the good work D!

:bigsmiley.png: What a great job they are doing - and it sounds like they are having fun at the same time. People and places like that make me proud to be part of the horsey community!

Super stuff! Many horses have come into my life that needed help, and I love to see people work to hard on them.

D-Cutch - well, you know I have always been a standie fan LOL
It is fabulous that they are being supported here, first and foremost not only by the saddle horse crowd, but I believe there is a new enlightenment with the race horse people, in that there is meaningful life after the track....so many of them are surprised that race horses can transition into fine saddle horses.....personally, I think most of them really excel on the trail. By putting 30 days of formal training on them, it gives them a great leg up finding a new home, which direction they should go in, for their new career - good on ya!

OT - had a great visit yesterday, D-Cutch! It was great to finally get a chance to meet you and hubby...thanks so much to take the time for the tour, Brittany's riding demo was amazing - that little girl has an amazing seat, and will be a force to reckon with in the show ring!
