Mane Sides?

I read an article the other day that said when you show, your horses mane should be on the right side of his/her neck. Earlier today i was looking at pictures from a recent show. Some horses had the mane on the right side, others on the left. And I found most apps had theirs on the left side.
So, does it matter what side the mane is on?
Does it depend what Breed your showing?

The mane is supposed to be on the horses right side because the judge looks at your horse from the left side. You want to be able to present your horses neck.
The judge does look at both sides but in a line class he stands back on the left and looks at everyones.
