Teach him to stand withOUT the cross ties. One of the best solutions to a horse that paws or jigs while tied, is to teach them to groundtie.. there will no longer be a reason to fuss, because the decision to stand quietly is made by the horse himself. If they stand quiet, all is great with the world.. If they jig, or paw, they can just leave. If they leave, their workload begins.

Standing quiet becomes something they seek out and look forward to.
