so my horse is going for training tomorrow.... and I am a basket case.

He has been a backyard horse since he came here. And at 6 it is time for formal training. Don't get me wrong we didn't let him sit in a feild all this time, he has trail training, bombproofing, round pen and we have trail ridden him for years but not too much about actual work and none at the lope. I should have done this years ago.....

I sent my coming 4 year old away for training in Feb, she will be coming home this weekend. I can understand your nerves. I had them too. She was the first horse I ever sent away too.

Not knowing how she would act was my biggest concern, because I know how she was before I got her, and had worked through a lot of issues. She was/is wonderful.

On the way there I was just jumping, it was like horse show nerves.

Believe me it is the best thing you can do for both you and the horse. Proud of you for giving him/her a great start and realizing that sometimes formal training is good for a horse. You are a great horse mom(or dad :) )

Good luck

I am not used to being able to say place names that aren't sponsors yet!

He's going to Bar Ditch (Ralph's) and is hopefully going to get the foundation for WP....then we can bring him back for lessons or more training... if it turns out that that isn't his calling he'll get 30 days or so to make a safer trail horse.... then we will be shopping... I hate horse shopping so I really hope he has enough of what it takes for the local shows!

Charlo... he tends to colic in new situations/ places or if he gets too stressed so I'll be brining the Jack with him and the gas ease.... I just may sleep there Wednesday.... or stay all evening... but I may just transfer my nerves!

See basket case!

Nerves..good and bad seem to go hand in hand with horses....I am sure Buzz will be fine...

You should post some new pics of him..haven't seen him in years..I can't believe he is 6yrs old....Seems like just yesterday you had him at a CBWR show as a yearling....Remember he was showing anyone who looked what he had...hahahaha

He went for a ride today and he apparently has a decent lope! who knew! I spent the early evening with him and the shedding blade... I am relieved sooo relieved... riding tomorrow I may get to watch his lesson....lol

That's awesome Ralph will do good with him! We started riding there a couple weeks ago and I really like his teaching style! I will have to say hi to him when we go out for our lesson :D If that's ok with you :?:
