We recently purchased a little reiner; but, would like to take her out of the ring from time to time to ride. I was wondering if anyone has ever used the easy boots (or another kind) over shoes/plates? We don’t want to risk injury to our mare and with the sliders on a trail ride may be more challanging.

I don't know of a pair of boots that are designed to be used with shoes. Many say that they are to be used by horses without shoes on.

But hey, what would prevent you from using boots over the plates. You would want to make sure that they fit correctly. I do believe the main reason they say not to use with shoes is because you will ware out the boots MUCH faster then barefoot.

I have cavello boots and I don't think they would fit comfortably over a shod hoof. It would put the top of the boot too low... There are alot of different styles and I know when I was boot shopping most questions I had were answered by the company. Good luck.
