| How the heck do you get tree sap out of your horse's coat? Stretch and I have our fun show tomorrow so of course he had to rub up against the trees today and has nice globs of sap on his neck - and some on his face too, just to complete the look. I'm not bathing him for the show because it hasn't been warm enough. What would work to get the sap out? H-E-L-P! | |

| I use ethanol (vodka would do) to get it off my hands when I'm working with the Christmas trees. It doesn't get the stains off but gets the stickiness out. You wouldn't see the stains on his black coat though. Gas will take it off too but not the best choice to be putting on him. | |

| Ohhhh .. the vodka sounds GREAT! Good thing I just got back from the grocery store and the orange juice was on sale. If the sap doesn't come off at least I won't care! I'll give it a try tonight and let you know how I make out. Well, if I remember that is! Thanks SD! | |

| Sap? Eugh. My ponies are surrounded by trees, but thankfully (knock on wood) never get sap on them. | |

| DON'T WASTE THE VODKA...... For drinking only!!!!!!!! Else send it to me.. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
On the topic at hand, I've never had to deal with sap to much, but a friend has and always goes with the PB. The other horses love it too as if any is forgotten they are there grooming like mad to "help" clean it up. | |

| lol my daughter was sitting in a pine tree and leaned back. It took forever to get it out, finally got her hair layered up a bit to get the last of it out. Wish I'd known about the vodka then - although perhaps dousing a twelve year old in vodka might have caused a few raised eyebrows. Probably would have been easier than trying to convince her to let me put peanut butter on her hair. She hates pb at the best of times. | |

| Well the vodka wasn't overly successful - but it DID taste good. Tee hee! So he's as shiny as he's going to get (without having a bath). It's going to be windy today so I can just blame any dirt on the "blowing sand". | |

| Peanut butter (as mentioned) or vegetable oil also works well. | |
