I'm just wondering what your experience on changing a boarding price. I know that as cost of living and well, cost of everything goes up, eventually boarding costs will go up, which I can understand and have no problem with. I was wondering if there should be a couple months notice before the price changes? What is your experience with this situation, and what is the norm for when the price changes? Thanks in advance.

I only have one boarder but what I've done was whenever the price of hay or grain goes up, I increase his board proportionally. I try to give 30 days notice. The only time I had to do it on shorter notice was when my hay supplier cancelled on short notice and I had to buy more expensive hay. The cost of keeping a horse on our island is absolutely INSANE!

I have four boarders in my barn, And although I have only raised my board twice in 14 years I think you have to be fair and give at least a months notice if not two if you can!! Most people who board there horses around here are on a pretty tight budget and even a slight increase is hard on them, I want my boarders happy and long term so I really try to work with them and so far it has worked well!!!
