| its pouring out today, so was sitting in the bunkhouse listening to bear and sam playing upstairs in the hayloft, buck and abbey moving around gnawing on the wooden posts and the barn swallows screaming in and out. sort of got to thinking about music and the first songs I really actually remember ........my mums family all singing apart from Highland and Scottish tunes, did Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Petula Clark, and then Cilla Black, Lulu, Dusty Springfield, Cliff Richards was the british equivalent of Elvis, oh god, the twist, the locomotion, even if I dont remember who sung what. we move into Motown arriving Buddy Holly .Beatles of course, but Gerry and the Pacemakers, the Troggs*Wild thing),,,,then the big movements.......arlo guthrie, donovan, joan baez, joni mitchell, dylan, and on and on crosby stills and nash before young, simon and garfunkle, mamas and the papas, JOHN DENVER, GORDON LIGHTFOOT, hendrix......spinning and dancing in a KALEIDESCOPE OF COLOURS........
who still sets you to singing from BEFORE?//

| Lovely description Joan, I could almost hear the dogs, the drops and the ponies. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. One of the first songs that I can ever remember hearing on the radio was "Downtown" by Petula Clark. | |

| Thank goodness for computers, I looked it up. It was 1965. All I can remember was driving everyone nuts by TRYING to sing along. At first everyone thought it was cute, then I'm sure it got irritating. When I hear the Eagles, I somehow manage to envision myself 18 again. Isn't great how just a few bars of music can conjure up memories????? | |

| I like to think that we are like fine wine...aged to perfection. My hubby, thinking he is a smartie, would say that wine sometimes turns to vinegar.....we have an anniversary coming up...MAYBE!!!
Back to the music...LOVE the song...Ain't No Sunshine!!!!!
