set up my tripod and got some self portraits of Eli and I, (PS Freva, How did he come by Eli out of the name Coosas Calico Kid?? My son is Elliot, nicknamed Eli, is not to fond of the idea of having a horse sharing the name so we may have to change Eli's barn name.
He's doing well, we've started taking walks together along the roadside (ditch) and have met dump trucks, tractors with big scary things behind them, motorcycles, etc... he barely flinches and only occasionally stops to see what's coming on the road (that is as long as he's facing them, lol, we did have one small incident in our afternoon session with a big tractor hauling empty hay wagons that came up from behind us that he did spook and kick out at). I can also open and close gates (wood and electric) while he's on his lead and he doesnt spook at them as they move, and cross tie quietly and even are getting used to fly spray :)
He did pick up a small sharp stone in the cleft of the frog yesterday which left a small bruise :( should be all better by show time :)

He is looking great and definitely loving the attention. He originally started being known as Nova. As a matter of fact a friend of mine who is a teacher in Florida asked me if I could do a weekly email to her class on one of the foals and Nova/Eli/Kid was the subject. We did pics from birth, first outing, getting teeth, leading , first trim etc. I would get some of the neatest questions from her class and have them filed away. As he got older Nova didn't seem to suit and I just started calling him Eli...no reason other than liking the name. The Coosas Calico Kid was a combo of both mom and dad's names.

I am glad he is doing well with you after his silly shananigans with the gate...still don't know what he was thinking?? Love the pictures...think I may have to borrow the one of the two of you with his head leaning to you. The other horses look great. Ori has settled in well, just one of the gang now.

I think I am almost as excited about September as you are!!

He is looking great! I can't wait to see what you do with him over the next little bit! Just love the look of him, if I didn't already have 4 I would have snatched him up awhile ago ;)
