Well we FINALLY had Kayla's birthday party on Friday the 13th. Her birthday is actually 30 Oct but due to illness the party had to be delayed twice. She now figures that she's 8 instead of 7 because she had two parties this year. A small one with just her dad and I on her actual birthday and then the one last week with her friends. I tried to convince her that she's 7, regardless of how many parties she had, but I've come to the conclusion that it's a lost cause. So for arguement's stake, she's 8!
We continued with the Halloween theme so the kids got to wear their costumes again. On the menu was:
Witches' fingers
Worms in Dirt
Nice cold blood to drink from the skull fountain
Spiders
And of course brain cake.
Fronie dressed as the devil and I was a vampire. Kayla wasn't too impressed with the blood on my face and it was freaking her out so I had to wash it off. She told me to just pretent that I was a vampire that hadn't eaten yet!
We had a slight malfunction of the skull fountain just before the party so Lord Gord had to do some surgery. With Fronie supervising of course!
After the games, eating and opening of presents the kids got to go into the "haunted room" that Fronie and I make each year. It was pretty spooky and a few of them were quite thistle-baked. I was surprized when I looked at the pictures that the flash lit up the whole room, so it doesn't look dark. But trust me, it was pitch black with just a small stroke light projecting images on the ceiling. We had a CD playing spooky sounds. The kids had to come in two at a time and dig through the bucket of brains and eyeballs to find a plastic ring. As they were leaving the party they had to go out to the treehouse and exchange their ring for a prize. I HATE loot bags so this year I did small prizes instead. The kids thought it was great!
Brain and eyeball stew.

Rosie in the haunted room.
Kayla trying to think of a wish before her brains melted.
My big spider.
Kayla beating the crap out of the spider after the party. He is now in her bed and she sleeps on him. OH ME NERVES !!!
Me relaxing and modeling my new hairdo (that was a gift for Kayla) while eating my child's brains.
And so it's over for another year. I've started planting the seed for next year. I'm thinking of 2 friends over and have a sleep over in the treehouse. That way I don't have to do any prep and I can put them out there and ignore them for the night.
