this made me cry..

NOBODY’S DOG

Today, I found Nobody’s Dog
Her ribs were beginning to show through
A once shiny black coat
At first, she tucked her tail tightly and ran
Then, ever hopeful, returned with a tentative wag

I bet she was cute as a puppy
Somebody picked her out special, took her home
And made her believe she would always be loved
But some humans changer their minds
As often as dirty socks

Even so, the betrayed black dog is still loving them
Futilely waiting for them to come back for her
She had a name once, and now she can’t understand
For you see, a dog’s love never dies

Today, I found Nobody’s Dog
One of millions abandoned each year
By owner’s who take the coward way out

They won’t see her slowly starve or freeze to death
Be hit by a car, or live at the mercy of strangers
As she begs for a scrap of attention

Today, the Shelter rescued Nobody’s Dog.
There, she’ll be fed, she’ll be loved, and hopefully
She’ll be claimed by a more fitting, deserving human

If not, she’ll go to an even better place
One where dogs are always loved
And are never thrown away on a cruel whim

But, she still yearns
To be Somebody’s Dog once more

oh thats so sad I could never imagine just getting rid of my dog

that poem makes me think of Sam.... :( :(

yes but BAY LEE.............SAM WILL BE SOMEBODY'S DOG...........MINE...........because of YOU....he gets to have a home again........the poem was way to sad....that is not the ending for HIM.................come on girl, smile, be happy, you have done a wonderful thing here............and Sam gets to come to my house.!!!!!!!!!!!ITS A GOOD THING :cheers: :cheers: :cheers:

ya I know Joan.. I just cannot get by the fact that someone actually threw him away........

There is a very happy ending to Sam's journey, but not every one is lucky like Sam..

NO, but you know what Denise, we just save the ones that come into our lives.....its all we can do........look how far we stretched the rescue.......from your house to mine........its a much smaller universe now with electronics........I think we get to save what god thinks we can handle. :flower:

You must be right Joan because I'd have a yard full of retired STB's easily. After seeing how they live first hand this spring I want to take them all. There's already a spot for George's old stall buddy when it's his time to move on :D.

You did a great thing Denise, a few people may have stopped and picked him up but you went the extra and gave him vet care and found him a home. Most would have dropped him off at the SPCA and let them deal with it. Because of you another dog can be helped by them.

ok this made me sad and :D happy too.. I have seen far to many dogs go down this path and not so many are lucky enough to be rescued like Sam.. Bay-Lee give us hope for people to do the right thing .. Denise if more people were like you we'd live in a near perfect world. :cheers:

I just did what I thought was the right thing, there was a living being that needed my help, I had the good sense to stop and pick him up.. I would do it again in a heartbeat..
