Our Mare is Due TODAY!

but we have no foal :P

It looks to me like she has atleast a couple days to go if not a week or so... the waiting continues!


On a more positive note we bred my Canadian mare on St. Patty's Day and she isn't showing heat yet... She generally cycles like clock work so I am hoping I'm not jinxing myself and she did actually catch :D :D

now this is tricky to respond to. on the one hand you want one popped out quickly and easily, on the other hand you dont want any popping out and you want her quiet...........ok..........good luck with that. :D

I was a wreck waiting for Kelly to foal...Of course she was a few days overdue...Can you believe that was 2 years ago...Time flies

DID WE GET A FOAL YET????????????????/

We bred her to Beyond Reach - a Dutch Warmblood... we have a breeding to a Canadian stallion here on the Island and will likely bred her that way next year. The nice thing about her is that she is a spectacular mother but has no problem being separated from her foal so we can still use her all summer and she gets heavy but has no trouble being used up until a couple weeks before she foals.

No foal :) LOL I think it is going to be atleast a week enless she pulls a fast one on me... I turned her out the other night and she was wide open everywhere - baby weight and all... She doesn't seem uncomfortable/restless and then of course she still has some bagging up to do and a whole lot of loosening up if she plans on pushing anything out.

No foal yet! I'm heading home Saturday morning so she can foal Saturday night and that'd be fine with me... she sure doesn't seem to be in any hurry to have this foal - she didn't look nearly ready when I left and Glenn said she still looks the same this morning.

I'm use to my Canadian mare who does the exact same thing every year and foals one day before her due date....

I guess you and Ride em should have a bet on....Ottie is still holding on to hers too.

I think Otie might win this one!

I think our mare is getting "less" pregnant by the day!! She looks less ready than she did last week.

LOL you're right Wissy I am usually around and it is pretty hard to shut me up :D It has been the morning from well you all know where...

Glenn is away and can't seem to get the fellow he is with convinced to come home!!!!!! and I tell you our fort is a bit hectic under regular circumstances with the two of us around so with just me trying to run the show since Monday night and everything that could possibly go wrong going wrong it has been a hay day...where is that banging my head against a brick wall emoticon? I need that one today :P

Anyhoo.... meet little nameless - our sorrel colt! He's as smart as a whip didn't waste anytime getting up and I pointed him in the right direction to get a drink and off he went!

He's a grandson of Freckles Playboy and a grandson of Smart and Mad who is doing exceptionally well cutting down in the States and he is for sale!

What would a pregnant mare thread be without boobies....


She wasn't particularly large so I didn't expect her colt to be as large as he is but she poped him right....


I went down to close up the big door and lock the yearlings out and I saw two hooves sticking out - foal was born in less than a minute she didn't waste time and I don't even think it took much energy on her part.... I was busy watching so I didn't run and get the camera until this point!











And this AM.... I didn't really have time for good pictures as I had too much on my plate but here are a couple dry pictures...
