This is both good and bad.
(got no photos)

Arizona and Belladonte are with me in Ontario
I went to take Arizona out for a fun run on the track out back
he was ouchy on his front legs. :( two days before he was perfect while playing with belle all over the pasture. he was not really lame but I was not going to ride him even a bit tender.

that was the bad news.

good news:
I took belladonte out to play around with. as I've not been keeping up with her riding (shame on me I know but work has been crazy in more ways then one)
we went for a walk around the front farm area (in hand) and jogged abit. trying to have some fun.
then we went into the main indoor arena and played with a tarp.
first time ever seeing a tarp!
I took it out, unfolded it then started to set it down in front of her. (doing everything slowly and keeping a good eye on her and her body language.)
Before it was all even on the ground Belladonte takes her left leg and steps on it.
then looks at me and was like. "thats it? all of your talk for that? that was nothing mom!"
I did as much as I could with the tarp and she was great. I even put it over her.

the only thing she did not like was it coming over her head. and even then she just shook it off as she would a biting horse fly.

it was then I desided to start training her for Ultimate Cowboy Race. I figured it would be good for both of us.

which means I'm going to have to cut back on other things to make time but I think it will be more then worth it in the end to see her and I do this race(s).

and if down the road it turns out to not be the thing for her I will start her in reining. :D

update Today at 3:55 pm

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

went out to the barn today to see how he was. (I went home for a few days.)

Found Arizona on just about three legs. Vet is coming out tomorrow and ari and belle are in a stall till then.
could not feel a huge amount of heat anywheres on the leg. (front right. )
no big bumps or cuts

anyone going by his pasture and seen him, horseperson or not, would have seen something not right. when I saw a glimpse of him you could easy tell he was standing on three legs.
we will know more once the vet comes tomorrow. hopfully its just an hoof abcess coming out. going back to give him a bath and check him all over again.
poor belle does not like to be inside

I love tarp work, the scarier the better.....up high so they have to walk under......filled with water on the ground......plastic bags filled with empty pop cans.........raincoats draped over the heads......glad you have made up your mind to do the race;......the more exraordinary things you do now with Belladonte the easier it will be when the real trial comes up......... :cowboyhound.gi

I had a friend watch him. as I flew home for a few days.
later today I'm going to go to the barn and see what is going on.

thats the plan! it should be a fun adventure.
just got to take ahold of the moment at hand and go out and do it. who knows what tomorrow brings.

another update

just spent awhile with him at the barn.

had a few (more experinced) people look him over. one drove there just to check him out (got to love having good older horse friends to get advice from!! :D )
they all said it looks like an abcess.
hopefully its not just to calm me down. lol
both Vet and Farrier are coming to the farm tomorrow anyways. which is perfect.
farrier will probably end up being there first.
we went ahead and soaked the foot for a while in Epsonsalt/warm water
regardless what the out come tomorrow, I allready have the go ahead to borrow a truck and trailer to move both horses to a barn closer to my house (more so out of the hair of the farm hands trying to train stb colts to lead right by where belle would be in the barn)

no one felt heat or anything in the leg.
after I soaked it one lady did feel heat in the fetlock-down

poor belladonte, put arizona back in the stall after he was all brushed up and babied she wanted a turn.
I did stay with her for a few minutes which she was happy about but now I have to have a hot shower myself and get to bed as early as I can. got next to no sleep at home.
no sleep + lots of stress = not good.

and some lovely person back home desided it would be great to give me a nice big cold to come back with.. taking shots of buckleys but it does not help much. :(

Two big abcess'

soak and then booted up and in the run in at night. (with belle of course)

they don't like it inside one bit. even witht he run in the size of a barn itself.

last night it took over two hours to get arizona soaked for atleast 2o minutes (of soaking)
and the duck tape/vet wrap booty on.

tonight it took just 45 minutes as he was good.

tonight I did not tie him up in a stall while doing everything, I just did it in the run in so he and belle could stay together and just held him on a lead. he was much better.
