Found warning on another site...

Just got the official word from our vet. EEE is what we are dealing with. It is transferred by mosquitos, not horse to horse. There is a vacation for it.

SO what vet is this from your personal vet /and or the vet involved as the last thing we need is more romours ans if it is eee there is not any precautions than the normal vaccines we reg give >???

This is from my personal vet who is one of the vets involved. We will be having our horses vacanated next week.

Our horses too have been vacanated for it in June. This vacationation needs to be updated after 3 to 4 months.

its been around for ever sadly it kills a few horses each year my freind lost her horse from it years ago

Eastern Equine Encephalitis in a horse from the south shore area of Nova Scotia
The Veterinary Pathology Laboratory in Truro has received confirmation of a positive
test result for Eastern Equine Encephalitis in a horse submitted for post-mortem
examination from the south shore area of Nova Scotia. Histopathology revealed a
severe meningoencephalitis.
Cases of Eastern Equine Encephalitis have also been recently reported in Maine and
Quebec. As this virus is spread by mosquitos and biting flies, insect control is an
important consideration. It is not known at this time what the geographic distribution of
infected mosquitoes might be in Nova Scotia. We are not aware of any evidence that
the affected horse has been out of Nova Scotia in recent weeks.
As previously stated, Nova Scotia veterinarians dealing with horses showing nervous
signs are encouraged to submit samples to our laboratory for further diagnostic
evaluation, or to contact us if submissions to other diagnostic laboratories reveal
information pertinent to this situation. Our address is:
