I took Bear and Sam to the vet clinic this morning, I just couldnt stand to see Old Bear not eat anymore. I arrived at the clinic without an appointment or calling them to tell them I was coming......I just placed them in the truck and set off. Some good things happen when you know good folks, Dr. VanZol was loading up to go to his satelite clinic when I pulled in the driveway.........he knew something was pretty serious as he normally makes Farm Calls to me out here. While he and I laid Bear gently on some sheets on the tailgate of the truck, the young nurse took Sam inside..
Dr. V gave him the shot and I stood beside him rubbing his ear and singing his favourite song.
This dog was my only company for the first 2 years I lived here, he was a friend, guardian, hiking and singing buddy..he always helped me in the round pen with all the horses and never left my side. Last year he seemed to be lagging a little, but when we brought Sam home, the pup pestered him enough that he seemed to get his old self back...Bear taught Sam all the rules to running this farm.....where the boundaries are and how to sing with the coyotes.
Tonight while Sam and I sit on the porch and do one good rendition of OH CANADA with our wild friends, we will be one Wing Man short.

I dont know what Sam and I will do without him.

Oh JJ i am crying with you.. It tears me apart that you lost your friend.. I know when bronty died it killed me also it was like aprt of me was taken away.. I miss him everyday as much as i miss my step dad bruce.. It leaves a whole in your heart.. Sending you big HUGS girl..

Oh JJ...I am so sorry for your loss. I wish I had had to opportunity to meet Bear. I know he was a grand ole lad, faithful and true!!! Hugs to you and Sam ((((X)))) !!!!!!!!!

Oh Joan I wish I could have been there with you and Sam.. Bear taught Sam a lot and he has some big paws to fill, but he'll do it.. your so lucky to have those two great dogs in your life, Sam was meant to be there with you and Sam. They say everything happens for a reason..

Im sending hugs to you and to my good friend Sam...hang in there Joan, I also buried a dog on my property, and it was the best thing you could of done, he will be with you forever....

Joan I am so very very sorry. I know it's the worst feeling in the world and the hardest decision but you know what it's time! He sure was a sweet boy... You had 10 awesome years together and I'm sure he passed all his wise tricks on to Sam.. HUGS!!!

Hope your keeping the chin up joan,I am so glad i got to meet bear and at least he had a short,back and sides done Eh!!.

Ps sorry to upset you on the phone yesterday,it will feel raw for a while,but he's at home with you in his last resting spot and you can sing with him anytime you want.Give sam extra cuddles,he's probably a little lost and confused too.XX
