I am going to write down today's date........

The reason being.......I FINALLY got "the bean" out!

No word of exaggeration, I have had this horse for just about two years and have just now removed a bean.
I had NO idea about doing this job (cleaning his sheath) when I became a first-time horse owner.

Barefoot can testify that he really needed a good cleaning and I did try valiantly but today was the day that I finally succeeded. It was becoming a real necessity to remove the bean as if it had gone any longer I was probably going to have to get the vet and that would NOT be a good thing!

Anyways.......just wanted to share this. I know it sounds awful but it seriously is a big accomplishment for me and has brought me another step closer to feeling like a real horsewoman.

I know, I know.........still so much to learn but I am always satisfied/happy with little steps/successes.

I still have not taken on the chore of sheath cleaning. I've always had the vet do it when they were tranqed for teeth work! Sooooo now that you are well versed in the chore... maybe you could come and do mine??? :FlowerWink.gif

I was giving free Sheath Cleaning clinics one year......hahahaha........you have no idea how many folks just wanted to be shown.......good for you and your horse...........IT IS INDEED A DAY TO MARK ON THE CALENDAR

I don't 'clean sheaths' but I do remove the bean when my horses give me the chance. If its hanging out it only takes about 2 seconds. Done and over before they even know whats going on.

Aaahhhhhhh ... the never ending hunt for the bean ... I know it well! Sheath cleaning is a nasty "must do" in the world of our boys. Once you get used to it, it's no big deal. Just make sure that the neighbours don't see you digging - they may think it's a pony porn ring!
