Rider Accident | Tue May 28, 2013 9:42 am by Hanover |
I don't think she would mind my posting this.
Barefoot_Horsegirl had a nasty accident while on a distance ride on May 18. She lost three of her front teeth when her face made an unscheduled contact with her horse's head/neck.......
She is one tough person but even so a few words of encouragement would no doubt be aprreciated. I haven't heard from her in a few days but she has a tremendous …

Horse boots | Thu Feb 09, 2012 10:50 am by brighteyes | I figured I would try to get a little discussion going here, about-yes you guessed it, horse boots.
There are all different types for different working horses, jump boots, ankle boots, bell boots, splint boots, skid boots, SMBs, polo wraps, etc. For your dicipline what do you prefer in a boot? Leather, neoprene, sheepskin lined, velcro or buckle closure? what brands do you prefer? Or do you even …

Water heaters... | Sat Dec 08, 2012 7:31 am by Loves Color | So, does anyone have a favorite type, brand water heater to put in a small water tub? I have heated water buckets for their stalls; but, I would really like to have a heater to put in the tub that I have outside. The local shop has one; but, it was 1500W and the husband wasn't going for that. I did find one online and almost ordered it; but, wasn't sure if it would do the job. This is the one …

What do you do with your horses in stormy weather??? | Sun Jun 02, 2013 10:43 pm by Freva | We just had a wicked thunder and lightening storm here. We let our horses try to be as natural as possible and we have found that in the event a storm is moving in...they will move to ta hollow in our field..probably the lowest point that they can get to rather than to stand in the run ins. I am thinking this might be a natural built in defense mode that horses have to get to the lowest …

Oklahoma Tornadoes | Fri May 24, 2013 11:03 pm by Hanover | I saw an interview this evening of a couple who lost racehorses to the tornado in Moore, Oklahoma. The man completely broke down in tears.......so sad.
I know human lives have been lost and of course this saddens me but it really touched me deeply to see the obvious love he had for his horses. A number of horses were shown who survived but who sustained terrible injuries.

When I came home after spending a great day watching and hopefully learning I walked over to horsie......he said: "Oh great, she's forgot everything I taught her".

Need help finding hay (square bales) | Sat Apr 27, 2013 9:11 am by Loves Color | It’s getting that time of year that we will be buying our horse hay for the upcoming year. Being located in our part of the South Shore of Nova Scotia brings with it challenges for hay. Our local hay does not contain the nutrition that horses require, so we have to buy from away. This leads to large shipping costs. So, I am wondering if anyone knows of a great “horse” hay provider that is …
