George Updated 3 Weeks Nov 18th *Graphic*

Here's a picture from yesterday evening. This was before I cleaned up the goopies that drain out each day. I was trying to get a picture before dark. Compared to the first pictures I think this looks pretty good.

it really does look remarkably better.............its amazing how somethings can be so horrid looking one day, then not quite so shocking a few days later............WELL DONE CINDYRELLY............good for HIM> still hugs and good vibes coming your way.

Oh My that looks nasty!!! when my gelding got kicked in the knee
i flushed it out with Salene you can buy it at the drug store
the sterile salene, i found this worked really well as the vet told me
water has alot of bacteria in it than can actually make a cut of that size worse.

Looks like it's healing pretty good

Looking much better already. Although still pretty gross! It looks good and clean, which is one of the biggest battles with the critters.

I just grabbed a quick look at the first picture, poor George. Funny the things they can get themselves into. Silly horses. My thoughts are with you during the healing process.

He is still healing well, thanks for asking. He will have the stitches out on Friday. The parts that were stitched well (enough skin) just have a bit of scab on them now, they look pretty much healed. The bad spot has a scab that breaks open when he moves around a lot but it looks better every day.

The sun was so bright this morning that I couldn't get a decent picture.

Looking good. The "open" area is still fairly large - but nice and clean. You're doing a great job. Maybe if you just explain to him that he needs to stand still so the scab won't break open he'll cooperate. Just a thought ...

Wow, George is healing well. The stitched areas are looking great. Have you tried the Vaseline? His cut is in such a crucial muscle but the Vaseline would seal the wound and make it more pliable. My mom was a huge believer in good ole Vaseline

Oh my. I have been MIA for quite a while.....Sexy Dexy so sorry this has hapened but I am glad to see the healing coming along nicely.

I read through the whole story and am certainly pleased to see the good results.

wow I can't believe how good it looks now.. he heals great.. good for you for taking such great care..I never had any doubts you would take super duper care of the boy! :)

Well it's been 3 weeks today. He had his stitches out on Friday and there was still some infection draining so to the vet opened it up a bit again to flush it out once more. By Monday the draining had stopped so he must have flushed out whatever was still in there. He thought it could have been a small piece of rust from the gate hinge. George was a perfect gentleman through all this and didn't need any sedation, he just stood quietly while Trevor picked and pulled at it.

Since the stitches have been out the scab is growing a fair bit but the skin is attached nice and firmly underneath and it's looking good. I'm going to start putting some vaseline on it like Freva suggested to keep the scab a little more pliable so it's less likely to pull open.

Here's some pictures from this morning. It looks a bit different depending on the light and angle. Cell phone camera's don;t take the best pictures either.

It's coming, keep up the good work. Takes a lot of time and patients.

It's looking good. This one is going to take a long time to heal because of the large area that wasn't able to be stitched. Give George a big hug from me for being such a good patient. Keep up the good work.

It is looking very good considering the depth of the injury. A few more weeks with your good care and I bet no one will even know poor George had a booboo.
