Need Suggestions for Irish Wedding Songs - Bernadette???

A coworkers daughter is getting married in Ireland this summer and she is looking for a good Father/Daughter song for their dance. They are having a live Irish band play so it would be nice to find a suitable song rather than have a recording of something that's been played at thousands of weddings back home.

Hi Dexy,well i could'nt think of too many irish father and daughter wedding songs but 2 have stood out. "Daughter of mine by John Mcdermott is a lovely song.Gown of white is another but sounds very country western. Here is a list of love songs/ballads which are'nt father and daughter style but are great all the same. " Sweet Sixteen" by the furey brothers and davy arthur. " Black velvet band" by the Irish rovers. "The Voyage " by Christy Moore. Mention these to your coworker and tell her to have a listen to them via You tube. If i think up anymore will let ye know.

Thanks, I'll pass them on to her. I came across the John Mcdermott song already and another one called Embrace of the Father & Bride by Shaun Loughrey. It's a little "folky" but suits the occassion.

You saw the shy version of me - I get that way when SOMEONE sticks a video camera in your face unexpectantly when you're stuffing your face with crackers. I'm really not such a turd in person. Just have a mild dislike for cameras and even more so - videocameras.
