Do you have them?

Pros/Cons?

How do you disinfect them? Do you find one type of bedding more successful over another to keep the floor in tact? Do you use mats on top of your dirt floor?

Any experiences would be great :flower:

I have had dirt floors before... they can be a challenge if you don't have good drainage and don't put anything on top of them... we limed them often to kill anything that may be around...we used sawdust on the floor sometimes the kids would end up digging a basement in the stall though

rubber matts solved the digging to china issue and was much easier on bedding. Hope this helps!

I love dirt floors........but they are not quite dirt......I start off with the tailings pounded in nice and firm at the beginning of the winter season......then 2 bags of shavings......we have really good drainage, but if they were in for an extended period, I'd us Stall Boy to neutrilize the urine odor. I have dirt in both the run in and the stall, but Buck really likes to lay down and he gets scrapes and cuts on his hocks quite often......so I will be putting down a rubber mat in his side then the shavings on top of that...........
