Show pictures AND my first "serious" injury

Willow and I attending our last show of the year during the weekend. It was a 2-day western/english bronze level show. Willow was a bit funny all weekend but we made it through the western classes on Saturday pretty well. The results were 2 firsts, 4 seconds and 1 third.

Sunday started off as usual. This was only our second time showing english and we only do x-rails and 18" hunters along with flat classes. We came out of our first x-rail class with a pretty blue second place ribbon. Then in our next x-rail class as we were landing the third last jump of the course, my right stirrup leather snapped and and I hit the dirt. I landed on my shoulder and had to be taken to the emergency department at the hospital. Turns out there's nothing broke that they can see, but there's lots of ligament and tissue damage. So, I'm out of commission for quite a while.

Sorry to hear of your tumble and shoulder injury....ouch!! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

You can Willow look great and were on a good roll. Hope you will be back riding again soon.

Soory to hear about your fall, wishing you a quick recovery, how did willow take your tumble, did it give him a scare too ????

Shelly, Shelly, Shelly ... no good will come from riding english! (I can say that because I only recently switched to western). I hope you get better soon. Nice to see someone was ready with the camera to capture the bandaging job. How long did you have to wait at emergency? Give Willow a hug from me (with your good arm of course!).

WELL Kiddo, I'd say you got off really lucky.........not exactly how you planned on finishing your weekend I'm sure............you got lots a pretty ribbons, so you and Willow must have done well..............sure hope you get some pain relief soon and nothing else shows up to knock you back. :cowboyhound.gi

Haha, Willow just stood there looking at me until someone opened the exit gate and she decided it must be time to mosey back to the barn. One of my friends asked me if the accident was going to turn me off of english riding....I told her it was an excuse to buy a better saddle and equipment, hahaha! I admit I've had more falls in the past couple months since starting jumping than I've had since I started Willow under saddle, but I'm far too stubborn to let that stop me. I'm already looking forward to next season and more western AND english riding.
