She posted on FB that she was blood clots in both lungs, JJ. As you know first hand, very serious business. She said she would be in ICU with restricted visitation for a while. She sure can use all of our healing prayers!!!!

Hey Everyone... well it's been an interesting couple days for me...

So here is the story of roughly what happened.

On Wednesday I went down stairs to get hubby's lunch ready for work. I looked out the back door to look at the ponies and then started to the bathroom to pee (typical morning routine). As I was going through the kitchen I went to grab onto the doorframe as I was starting to black out (the typical get up to quickly kind, or so I thought). I didn't make it. I hit my head on the doorframe and then landed on the hardwood floor, using my face to take the impact of the fall. I was out for a few minutes, during this time hubby called down to see what the cats have knocked over. As I didn't answer he rushed down to see what happened, I woke up with him talking to the 911 operator. I get rushed to the ER and they do a number of tests, and are not sure why I passed out, but I was doing good, and so they sent me home that if I got worse, to come back.


I was find for the day and night, other then I couldn't sleep.

On Thursday I got up again to get hubby's lunch ready, I walked down the stairs, had to sit down. Looked outside, had to sit down. Started to make lunch, made him finish it and I went and laid down again as I was very sleepy. After my nap, got up and went out to look after breakfast for the horses. I walked the 25ft to the feed room, had to sit down (notice a pattern here, I didn't) Now I'm very lucky to have the horses I do have. I walked into the pasture to get their feed dishes, and I had to flail to grab Flicka's halter as I was starting to black out again. At this moment I thought it was just my low blood sugar's acting up. (Which they are known to do in the mornings) I sat down on the feedroom door jam, and then I remmeber sitting up again (At the time, I didn't think I blackedout). As I still thought it was my sugars I went inside to get food into me. I took my breakfast downstairs to my office to work a bit, so I could get caught up on the work I missed yesterday and tell them I was only doing a bit of work, and taking the rest of the day very easy. I ate my food, and was still feeling like my sugars were wrong.

My mom called to check in on me, and I told her how I felt, and she said that she was on her way to get me, and I could do what ever I needed from her house so that I wasn't alone. Else if she deteremined I needed to, to take me to the ER again. Out she came. I walked up the stairs (had to sit down again), out the the barn, so I could walk her through feeding the horses (had to site down again). Now mom noticed this pattern before I did. I told her what to do, and I walked to the fence line (about 15 ft) noticed I was going to black out and started walking back to the feedroom door, and then I remember Mom telling me to wake up and why her cell phone wasn't working out there. She use to be a care worker for seniors, so she assisted me to the car to drive me to the ambulance station that was 5km away. THEY WEREN'T THERE, so she kept going to the firehall. As they weren't there either, the ambulance was called.

So I'm back at the hospital, and lucky me, it's the same ER Dr on duty as yesterday. He was shocked to see me, and figured I was there for another reason. When he heard what had happened that morning, you should have seen the blood work, and scan request FLY from his hands to the departments where they wanted me to go.

After a bit of looking and such, they found I have multiple blood clots in both my lungs. I had 5 different Dr's give me the once, twice and sometimes three and four times over and off I get admitted to the Cardiac ICU.

They have me on some "good" drugs which makes me quiet tired and a bit dopey.

I have my good hours of awake and my bad hours of hard breathing and such.

The good thing is, I am not in pain, which REALLY confuses the Dr's as I guess I should be.

We finally got me online with my laptop, so I can at least keep myself entertained with the internet. But they screen all my calls to my husband and parents only and am on restricted visitors as I get tired very quickly.

Monday I get to see another Dr and then starts MORE bloodwork to really try and find out what is going on, as they found ANOTHER clot in my leg they are keeping an eye on.

I appreciate any prayers and fingers crossed, as this is going to be a while before I'm up to much of anything again.

YOU were some lucky Flicka to have someone close by to get you to the hospital......so they dont know the UNDERLYING cause.........no long trips sitting??? heparin and warafin and whatever your choice of pain stuff make for an interesting cocktail...........just try not to get frustrated........take it easy.......

OHH Flicka, that is all so scarry!!! Good that you are in ICU now and they can take good care of you. Hope they find the cause soon. Your just too young for all this. You are always in my thoughts. I'm glad you have access to the internet and can give us updates from time to time.

Stay strong !!! You need anything put it out there, and I'm sure someone can get ya what you need. Is Hubby able to tend to the horses for you? HUGZ to you, and your poor MOM... I know what she is going through.

It's been an interesting day. Yesterday I was very tired, but today I'm doing better. My sister came in and washed my hair. I had a good laugh with the nurses as the asked if I wanted to sit in my chair, for the first time, and I said no, I'm not going to do anything that might jeopardize me getting my hair washed. So we all had a good laugh at that.

They have me on both heparin and warafin at the moment to bust through the clots and both at a good strong douse, which is another reason I'm in ICU so if I do start to bleed, they are equipped to deal with it.

As for the "good" drugs I'm on, lets just say, they give me some, and in about 15-20 minutes it's time for me to take a nap.

The nurses and dr's have been WONDERFUL, my day nurse from Thursday and Friday said I was her "princess" and would help me pick on hubby when ever possible. :) I've been pretty good with my attitude, as my theory is, my visit is only as good as I can make it out to be. If I'm cranky and such, why would the nurses want to be nice to me, and then if I make them cranky, how is that nice for the other patients.

My sister came over from PEI to visit me over the weekend. I guess on Friday everytime the phone rang at work, she would jump 10ft in the air incase it was someone calling with an update on me. So they kicked her out of the office to go home, and covered her Saturday shift so that she could come over and see ME.

My family has been wonderful, especially my hubby, I know this has been hard on all of them. I'm very lucky and blessed to have the family I have, as well as the friends I have. Please keep my hubby in your thoughts, he's been having a hard time sleeping with all of this happening. Right now he's crashed out on the lazyboy chair they brought in for some much deserved sleep.

Grant has been feeding the horses in the AM, and then a friend has been driving out to look after them in the evening. Today they actually were moved over to my old barn as she has offered to look after them as long as needed till I am able to do the work myself again. Again so lucky for the awsome friends I have.

Your spirits are positive...good for you...a postive attitude helps both mind and body!!! This is so scary but it sounds are though you are getting wonderful care. Although it is not where you want to be...it is the best place to be...continue to get well!!!!

It sure lightens my heart when I see that you have done your own up-date. Thats a step in the right direction. I know this has to be scarry for you, and it is good that you are putting a possitive spin on it.. it will make the whole ordeal, a bit easier for not only you but your family too. My heart and thoughts go out to your parents and of course Grant... I know how hard this can be for them too. It's wonderful that some one is caring for your horses, that takes some of the worry and pressure off.

Keep on staying strong, and positive. I wish there was more I could do.... you have done so much for Becky in her time of need, and it meant so very much to us all. KUDDOS for Grant and lots of hugs for your family........sounds like you are doing what you are told and making THE BEST of it.............did they find out WHY OR WHERE THE CLOTS came from yet????????

:) Ya, Grant has been wonderful. He does make me worry slightly, as I know he's not sleeping at night. He's moved into his parents house till I'm ready to go home so that he is closer. He would have done it sooner, but because of the horses, had to feed them in the AM.

We know the clots are coming from my legs, there is no question on that. Lastnight I could feel the now familiar twinge in my calf for when one is forming. So we'll see what the dr says today about it. As for why they are forming, that's what the specialist I get to see today is to tel me.

Don't worry too much about Grant....I'm sure he will be fine..he's young and a bit of lost sleep he can cope with,,,, as long as you get better. Its great he is such a support for you.

Here I was jealous of your long lovely legs... guess I will stick to my short stubs.

Let us know as soon as you can about what the specialist has to say.

Well today has been a good day... the on-call Dr said that I can be weaned off the O2, so hopefully by when I go to bed I won't need the extra O2 anymore. Once that is gone I'm able to be more portable, as far as the heart monitor wireless adapter will let me go. I was up all afternoon in the lazyboy chair they have in my room. I was able to have a nice conversation with my dad and not have to stop talking due to lack of breath with the reduced O2.

I was suppose to have a hematologist come and visit me today, but he hasn't shown up yet, so I don't suspect I'll see him till tomorrow now. They might even release me to the general population tomorrow, but we are still not sure how long I'll be here, and as the specialist hasn't come today it might need to be pushed back a day..

The O2 is GONE.. well for a bit, to see if I can keep my own stats up without the assistance.

FLICKA..........I didnt mean.....where are the clots coming from./.....I mean WHY ARE THE CLOTS COMING?????????????? I was obviously toooooooo literal for you.............glad you are off the O2..that at least is a good sign.

oh Flicka.. so sorry to hear about your clots and being in the hospital.. I've been out of touch lately, with moving and a clinic this weekend in Greenwood.. Hope your feeling better and soon to go home.. healing vibes heading your way from me.. Get well soon my dear.. thinking about you a lot today..

Flicka, thanks for keeping us updated on your health. Scarey stuff! You are sounding positive and very strong - and on the upside, you are in the best place that you can be. Don't worry about everyone else - it sounds like you have a wonderful family and friends around you that will do whatever it takes to look after things while you are in hospital.

when I was first reading your post I kept thinking to myself, "hmmm ... this seems to be happening whenever she makes hubby his lunch. No wonder Lord Gord has to pack his own!".

Feel better soon. It's probably going to be a long road, but JJ made it through it - and look how normal she is? Oh wait ... never mind ... cancel that thought ...

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA JJ is normally for who JJ is, if she was any other way, we would be wondering what is wrong.. She's just the way we LOVE her.. :) Now if anyone else was like her we would be wondering the same thing.. whats' wrong with them???

They are not sure why I'm getting the clots yet. They drained me again this morning to see if they can figure that out. I found out they have another Dr on consult for my case, plus my family Dr. So I'm very well known around here.. :P

I also get to go for an MRI today, they want to check my brain again, for a couple reasons. One it's now a couple days after the falls and to make sure nothing changed, and I've been having headaches so that nothing is wrong. One Dr said it could just be from being in the Hospital and the air in here. Makes sense for being in a hospital.

So we'll see what today brings. They also said I'll probably be today released to general population as I'm not sick enough anymore to be in the CCU/ICU.
