Good Friday Ride

Good Friday was a gorgeous day here in New Brunswick..Kids wanted to ride in the afternoon after lunch.

My daughter rode Pirate our gelding who has not been ridden since middle of last summer.....Both were shedded -groomed and tacked up to go....I decided to take a walk. I never like leaving 1 horse alone at home and with Lady on semi-retirement I felt the walk would be good. Plus I am fighting a terrible head cold....I must say that Pirate sure looks forward to swimming. We passed a brook at a field crossing and in the pics he started pawing and thought he could swim...LOL:)

It looks like the kids had a blast! It warms my heart to see people really enjoying their horses in the great outdoors. Hope your headcold goes soon!

Thanks Tammy - Kids went out again today and my daughter rode my mare so that she was not left out.

I wanted to ride but had the head spins from being so stuffed up.

Joan your eyes are not deceiving you at all.
She is wearing a purple safety vest. My son is wearing one also under his jacket making it look like he is hunched over.....Something we all do here.

Safety first....Horses first rides get splint and bell boots where needed and helmets and vests for riders......

Kids went out again yesterday with my 19 year old mare....Boy she still has it in her even though each spring we think she slows down........

Will get pics up shortly...Then here we are today with the snow almost all gone and once again we get dumped on with 20+cm to come.

My son is riding his gelding who is 24 this year.
My daughter rides any horse that needs exercise.
She has her own mare who is 5 this year - and rides my husbands gelding who is 12 this year.
She rode all the horses except my sons this week-end as I was ill with the nasty off balance strong head cold.

She has a natrural gift with horses... She trained her mare from scratch (only halter broke) to ride like a dream western and english....She is a great girl......and my son went from leadline classes to a full bloen gallop last summer...I am so proud of them both

Here is what we got today - 10 cm and 10 more to come...Back to the winter blankets..Horses have shed a lot and had teh chills so back to the blankets for a few days.

MSA.....THE KIDS SURE HAVE COME A LONG WAY WITH THEIR RIDING SKILLS.... good for you.........but the question I want an answer to is WHERE DID YOU GET THE DARN PURPLE SAFETY VEST.......I WANT ONE.

LOL:) Joan I had bought it off someone who had a tack shop online a few years ago and her supplier was in the US.

I see tehm all the time on ebay.....They are great and my daughter is soon to outgrow hers and we are starting to look for a bigger size for next year.....Will let you know if we find them..

I am not sure if my horses were too happy with all the snow we got.
Here is a pic we took yesterday before we took the blankies off as the sun came out and it was quite warm

From this pic I am not sure my horses liked the snow....HArd to beleive it went from nice to crappy....

Geesh...........guess I shouldnt complain.....we just got sprinklings of snow dust, and the same today so far.
