Subject: Awesome first clinic... Tue Jun 04, 2013 12:18 am
We went to our first clinic this past weekend and it was awesome. The instructor was Travis Smith, he was great. Very good at communicating his instructions and seemed to have help for each and every one of us at the clinic. I would go to another clinic with him in a heart beat.
We rode at Double J Stables just minutes from my home. I was great, close to home and pot luck all weekend (cause we like to eat almost as much as we like to ride, lol).
My little mare wasn't in as good of shape as I would have liked her to be; but, for the most part she did her job. I have learned so much with her over the last couple of year and am looking forward to learning lots more.

Whoot whoot! Way to go both of you! It is so nice to 'click' with your instructor, and be able to learn some new stuff...I completely understand about the food part too...hahahahaa

I feel not every instructor works for every horse or rider. I have had an instructor before that was great when I owned one horse; but, when I moved on to another horse it didn't work at all. Needs to be a team.

Sounds great!
What would you consider to be the number one most valuable thing that you came home with?

Not sure if I can narrow it down to one thing; but, I loved the tools for teaching her patience. She is a hot little horse (something I have never owned before) and his approach was really calm and kept the horse's thought process in mind.
