Recently we have moved to our new house. It is not too far from our old house, only about a km and it is in the country. At the old house it was great, our dog, Drake (5 and half lab) could go visit our neighbours, because we shared our lane with three other houses. He had onlyever left the house three times (just bad judgement...) there was always someone to visit and things to do.
Drake had been settling in really well at the new house. We would leave him out, not tied up, during the day when we were at work. He would just hang out around the yard. Well Thurdsay, hubby got home from work and no Drake out side, he was nowhere to be found! Hubby started looking for him. He drove up the road asking our closest neighbour, about a km away, opposite direction to our old house, if they had seen Drake. They said that he was just there about 20 mins ago. The next stop was the next house down the road, about 2 km from home and buddy said that the dog was at his front door! and had visited three or four times already that week.
Drake was pretty suprised to see hubby round the corner of the house.
The next day the dog took off even when hubby was working in the yard. This is SO not like him. I guess Drake won't be staying out during the day and we might even have to tie him up, which we have never had to do before. Hubby wants to get an invisible fence, the kind that works from a central transponder.
If anyone knows of what might work to keep Drake home, I am up for it! Oh and we NEVER EVER walk Drake off the property, if we go somewhere were drive then walk.
